Why "ph"?

I bought Phish’s “Lawn Boy” album in the year 2000, the summer before my junior year of high school. It was my first Phish album. I beat the shit out of that album. Some of my favorite Phish songs are on that album (“My Sweet One,” “Split Open and Melt,” “Bathtub Gin,” “Run Like An Antelope,” “Bouncing Around the Room,” okay, so I love pretty much all of the songs on that album.)

That album reminds me of a simpler time, a life I knew before a depression took hold for nearly two decades. “Run Like an Antelope” felt like permission to break free from a society I didn’t quite fit into, but then something happened and I let the gearshift get stuck in the low gear of my soul. All the same, I was hooked on the boys from Vermont. They were weird, I was weird, and their music made me feel better.

After college I realized I was broke from going to too many concerts, so I unintentionally took a 10-year hiatus from Phish shows. Phish’s run at the Gorge in 2021 coincided with my mushroom enlightment, and it seemed only natural that the brand name start with a “ph,” so some phun girl friends joined me at Phish to give away stickers, and since then, there’s been no turning back.

Mushrooms and music should be phun, as should life, but it isn’t always easy, so phun girls with a “ph” is here to help you learn about the internal smile you deserve.
